✤ What exactly is Passionlip?

From the wiki, which should always be taken with a grain of salt like any fandom wiki, "Passionlip is an Alter Ego-class High-Servant of BB." Here's what every part of that means:

Servant: I'm not going to go into the Fate 101 specifics of what a Servant is here, not just because I don't want to (though who does), but because it's largely actually not relevant to Lip, who is a different kind of thing than the typical Heroic Spirit like e.g. Cu Chulainn from mythological history! Instead she is a—

High-Servant: She is an amalgam of different spirit origins all shoved together into one being. In her case, BB took the data of the goddesses Parvati, Durga, and Brynhildr, and combined them to form Passionlip, along with—

Alter Ego: —part of herself. An Alter Ego class Servant is like a broken off piece of some greater whole that has become a Servant in its own right. BB is an AI (and thus so is Passionlip), and she made the Sakura Five (that's Lip and her four sisters) by removing her own aspects she deemed unnecessary and making them into different people. Lip is Alter Ego M, the Alter Ego of "love and hate," so she was born from those emotions/urges of BB's combined with the spirits of the three goddesses mentioned.

tl;dr: Lip is the data of three goddesses and some of a rogue AI's rejected desires stuffed in a trenchcoat.


✤ WTF kind of name is Passionlip?

The Sakura Five are all named after namesmushes of different flowers. Passionlip is passion flower + tulip. They're all about this dumb except for Violet, who was not fucking around with all that nonsense.


✤ What does she look like?

✤ What's with the giant, uh . . . ?

Hands? I'm so glad you asked! Passionlip's gigantic clawed metal hands are part of her body and can't be removed (except when she like, fires them at people as projectiles, somehow). According to that wiki, her ten huge clawed fingers are meant to represent the ten divine weapons of Durga, a goddess of war. Awesome. As you might imagine, they're pretty OP, and not just because getting whacked with one of them would probably hurt a lot. Lip has a particular skill—an id_es, or a cheater skill given to her by BB—called Trash & Crash EX, which allows her to utterly crush anything she can get her hands around. The reason it's an OP cheater skill is that this doesn't apply to only things she's literally grabbing onto; it's anything she can visually wrap her hands around. In other words, when people take joke photos like this:

Lip could literally crush the whole Eiffel Tower, for realsies, if she were the one "holding" it through the power of perspective like this. The skill applies to anything in her line of sight at such a distance that she can get her hands around it. According to her FGO profile, no matter how large the item originally was, it will become a cube 1 cm³ in volume, but will still weigh 1/10th of its original weight (meaning you could end up with an incredibly heavy little cube).

Its weaknesses are that the bigger something is, the more time it takes to crush, so she couldn't just slap the Eiffel Tower like a mosquito, and also it's easy for anything living to dodge this attack by just . . . stepping out of the way.

For this reason, though, she doesn't give very good hugs. :(


✤ Interesting, but what about the giant, uh . . . ?

Yeah. Two things: first of all, the breasts thing is definitely Fate being Fate, in that there is a real canon explanation for them (the Sakura Five also all represent different erogenous zones on the female body and Lip is the breasts) but also that real and very meaningful* canon explanation is just there for fanservice purposes. You know how it is. But second of all, they too hold a special OP secret power!

Breast Valley A is another feature/skill that is basically where Lip stores all the garbage she creates with Trash & Crash, or anything else. She's an AI, and her cleavage is like her equivalent of the Recycle Bin on your computer's desktop. She can physically shove an endless amount of stuff in there. It's like a hammerspace pocket dimension that can store literally anything, except it's very hard to actually get anything back out of it and she can't restore any compressed/crushed data she shoves in there to its original form, so it's not exactly a handy storage unit. It is more like a land of no return. And yes, people can fall in, and it's real bad when it happens, though at least these days she is more able to fish them back out than she was.


✤ What other skills does she have?

Here's the list, in Fate/ lore terms and also practical terms where that applies:

Masochistic Constitution A+: Lip is a tank unit who is meant to eat attacks. Basically, people are compelled to target her and hit her. This is true in battle, where enemies will be naturally drawn to send their attacks at her, but it seems to be true in her everyday life as well; she invites abuse through a combination of subtle mental compulsion (outside of her control) and also her personality grating on people in a more normal social sense. In addition to that, the compulsion gets worse once you actually lash out at her—so if you attack Lip, you will be increasingly unable to stop attacking her, gradually losing composure in doing so.

The A+ rank, up from the previous A, means that now she also gets an attack buff the lower her HP is. In other words, the more abuse she takes, the stronger she gets when she retaliates.

Magic Resistance C: "Cancel spells with a chant below two verses. Cannot defend against magecraft on the level of High-Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals." This is some lore bullshit and I'm honestly not going to attempt to translate it to panfandom RP except to say she's kind of okay but not great at shrugging off magical attacks.

Independent Action C: "It is possible for a Servant to stay in the world for one day without a Master." This is also tied into Fate lore where Servants need Masters in order to remain in the world. I think most panfandom RP kinda handwaves this or comes up with alternate ways for them to remain summoned, so I will only mess with this if it's a situation where it's relevant because everyone wants to play with it.

Presence Concealment A+: "It's a Skill that those of the Assassin class possess as it is their most basic ability, but Passionlip has acquired it as well due to her personality. Her timidness and cautiousness exhibits an excellent Presence Concealment, but her huge nails get in the way, allowing her to be discovered much sooner than usual. She would have been a good stalker if she didn't have those nails."

This basically just means she's able to hide her presence as a Servant and in general sneak around and be stealthy really well, except she's also got these huge fucking hands ruining it, which is hilarious.

Goddess' Essence C: This is just being a goddess, or in Lip's case a trenchcoat of goddesses. Her rank in it is pretty low. The skill comprises things like having a goddess-like unchanging body and a resistance to mental changes like corruptions. So, she has some natural resistance to these things due to her nature, but not a ton.


✤ So wait, is my character going to feel magically compelled to abuse Passionlip?

Only if you want! My take on this is, whatever's fun for everyone. I absolutely do not expect anyone to play by Fate/ canon rules or have their characters affected by anything they don't like just because That's Fate Babey! And hell, in FGO it's obvious not everyone is affected by it anyway (the Master never feels or acts on it). You only need to play with this if you really think it sounds like a good time. If you do, I'm down for it; you don't even need to ask. I'm playing this character fully aware and consenting to things going in that direction. (Of course, I like being in contact anyway for anything that might turn into a fight scene or anything else serious.)


✤ Anything else important for interacting with her?

There is one more aspect of Lip that doesn't really fit into the above categories but is still pretty prominent in her character: her Oversensitivity. Passionlip has incredibly sensitive skin, though this gets played down more in FGO. Even things like her clothing brushing against her can be painful, and being touched too much or for too long by a person will overstimulate her. This leads to exactly the kind of dialogue you might expect it to in canon.

But what it really boils down to is that between that quirk and the nature of her hands, it's very difficult to engage in casual physical contact with Lip, and she both hates and craves it.

Also, in CCC, she needs a lot of food to power herself and gets hungry very quickly, repeatedly leaving scenes so she can go eat. This never happens in FGO that I recall, possibly because of some difference in her creation in CCC vs. summoning at Chaldea (or because they forgot it was a thing). I may or may not play with it anyway depending on what's funny or relevant to the scene!
